Two hard fought third places, one in the wet and one in the dry, strengthened Peter Lindén’ s second place in the 2019 ICGP standings (tbc).
Leg one, held in wet but not pouring conditions proved Peter’s competitiveness, leading for much of the race and swopping places with arch rival Jean Paul Lecointe and Stefan Tennstadt.
On the final lap Peter lay second to Lecointe but was robbed of the chance for a win by fuel starvation due to unexpected fuel surging after slowing for a series of bends. Despite 1.5 litres remaining at the end of race one and 2 litres remaining at the end of race two, it was not enough to prevent the momentary blip that prevented the top result.
Race two was a desperate battle for second and third places. Ian Simpson, a non-starter in race one due to a recovering collar bone injury, simply romped away to a 15 second lead. Ian was simply in a class of his own. Peter and Jean Paul Lecointe swapped positions at least 4 times with the latter taking the second place honours at the flag.
Round 4 of the series takes place at Donington Park on the weekend of 27th July.
See you there.
